Ky and Dan eloped and afterwards invited family and friends to celebrate with them in San Antonio. On Saturday was the main reception at the Gillaspie's house, and on Sunday they had a brunch at the Hall's (Ky's parents) house. The Hall's were neighbors of Kim as she grew up in New Jersey and have remained friends since.
Here are some of the shots I took that weekend.
For our fifth CSA from Johnson's Backyard Garden we had a ton of tomatoes and eggplant. Naturally we had to go ahead and use up the eggplant and make eggplant parmesan. The rest of the veggies all went to good use and it was a very successful dinner. You can see the previous post for our first CSA challenge and our third CSA with massaman curry.
Here are some shots of the cooking we did together.
This is the second post for Treasure City Thrift Fashion show since I can't get all the pictures from the event posted in one post. This selection includes a collection that was modeled by Texas Roller Girls.
Here are the shots that didn't make it into post 1.
My friend Jen (Project Jen and Spinsta) has been making clothes for some time and invited us to come see her Smoke House Dresses at Treasure City. We didn't end up getting that great of a vantage point for pictures, but I did my best to try and capture some shots of all the different models. Just for the sake of it I'm putting up the best shot I got of each model, and several shots of the dresses that Jen made. I only did basic quick edits to all the photos, except for Smoke House Dresses where I put a little more time into it to try and make the pictures come out.
Here are shots of all the models that night.
For our third CSA from Johnson's Backyard Garden we did a ratatouille and some of Em's awesome crème brûlée. I'm sure because of a certain Pixar movie you might have already heard of it. You can see the previous post for our first CSA challenge. For the second one when we made massaman curry I didn't take any pictures.
Here are some shots of the cooking we did together.
The Homan cousins reunited after over 20 years in San Antonio at Kim's parents house (4 June - 6 June 2010). Only Rachel wasn't present, but Shawn flew in from DC, Keith from Jersey, Katie drove in from Dallas, and Kim from Austin. We had a fun filled weekend around San Antonio including the driving range at Canyon Springs, a nature walk led by "Uncle Howard", and the required reminiscing of the family while watching old family videos.
Here are some pictures I took over the weekend.
For the fun of it we decided to try out a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture); Johnson's Backyard Garden. For each box our friends Jen and Emily (the chef) come over and see what we can cook up. For the first one it was a challenge night, use up as many of the ingredients as possible!
Here are just a couple of shots I took that night.
The tradition is to have a 10 year High School reunion. But if you know Community High School it will come as no surprise that a 12 year reunion was organized for the class of '97 for 20 June 2009. Thanks go to Sacha Moustakas, Robin Joseph, and especially Sarah Eley for organizing things and making it happen (sorry if I missed somebody else who helped make it happen). Although I've been heading back to Michigan on a regular basis (Fall/Winter), this was a good excuse to see it again in the summer and take Kim with me. The main event was food and activities at Delhi park, but several people went out on the town in the evening.
I have to admit that I did cheat a little bit below and used a few of my pictures from other trips to Ann Arbor. Mainly because on this particular trip I didn't take any good pictures outside the actual party. For my pictures I focused mainly on fun and random pictures. Sacha was taking posed pictures of everybody there, so bother her if you want those. I believe they were supposed to be posted on the facebook, but I have avoided making an account there so can't verify.
Oh, and apologies to all the other CHS'ers for such a long delay in posting these. At least it wasn't a 2 year wait I guess...
